This is how rich Rich Enterprise Applications are becoming
If you've been hearing the buzz words "Fusion", "ADF", "AJAX" and "RIA", you may be wondering what it really all means to you. The following website contains a nice video overview of what Rich Enterprise Applications really means.
Not only is this a great source of information about Oracle's vision of the technology, it is also built with the technology! - So, if you want to check out our new hierarchy component, you can actually see it working as part of the site!
A definite page to bookmark and show the boss what "Fusion" is all about.
And the winner of the best Forms PJC is.....
For a number of years we've been encouraging the sharing of Java beans and PJCs for use by Forms developers in the wider OTN community. As a way of bringing some focus to this effort, last month the community decide to put vote on their best use of a PJC/Bean in an Oracle Forms application. More than anything, this initiative has shown to the OTN Forms community, how innovative you can be using Java to extend your Forms applications.
So, with contributions from the OTN community, and voted on by the Forms OTN community we have a winner!
And the winner is....
How to embed a video into a JSF page
Got a question on one of the forums today about how you can embed a video into a JSF pages. One way of doing this is using the verbatim tag. You simply drop this tag onto your page and the drop in the embeded tag from your video.
Here is a quick video of how it is done.
Fusion Development at Q-Con
Tomorrow I'm up in London presenting "The Fusion Development Platform" at Q-Con.
I'll be giving an otline of the technologies and then will probably spend sometime in the product demoing how we build business services and Web 2.0. UIs.
Back from Developer Day in Sweden
Well, made it back from a very snowy day in Sweden where I was delivering an ADF and JDeveloper hands-on day. Personally, this is one session I really enjoyed. I don't know if it was a cultural thing but the developers were very keen to ask questions. As a presenter it is good to see your audience is thinking about what you are saying and asking "but why" and "can I do this as well.."
In the end we had a full room of about 25 developers who were getting hands-on. I noticed a number of them had abandoned the hands-on script and decided to take Jdev for a roadtest themselves and they were doing pretty well.
All in all, a worth while trip.
In Sweden today for Oracle Developer Day
In Sweden to run an ADF and JDeveloper hands on day - forgot Sweden was cold and snowy - no coat - damn!

Hot Beans to use in Forms
Just for a bit of community fun, we kicked off a competition for Forms developers to demo interesting uses of Java beans and PJCs in Oracle Forms.
Well, we had 19 entries ranging from games to some impressive business functions.
The full list is summarised here.
Now, we have to pick a winner!
